Short bio
Dominika Ochnik is the head of the Department of Social Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine within the Academy of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. She holds a habilitation degree in medical sciences and a doctorate with distinction in psychology.
Her research interests focus on mental health, eHealth tools, single studies, and work psychology.
She is a certified coach (Centre for Coaching, ILM, London) and an experienced advisor in HR consulting, particularly in the areas of organizational psychology and employee well-being. She is the author of a cum laude PhD dissertation “Singlehood – Psychosocial Consequences of Being Single in Men and Women,” the editor of a book titled “Selflessness in Business”, and co-editor of “Psychology in Business: New Perspectives”.
Her research has a global reach, as evidenced by her leadership in the international project “Mental Health of Young Adults during COVID-19 Pandemic in Poland, Germany, Slovenia, and Israel: A Longitudinal Study” funded by NAWA Urgency Grants. Currently, she is exploring the relationships between urbanization, loneliness, and mental health within projects funded by the Metropolitan Science and Education Support Fund and by the Minister of Education and Science within the framework of the Science for Society II Program in Poland.
She is a Vice-President of the Committee of Psychological Sciences at the Polish Academy of Sciences / Branch in Katowice. As the chair of the International Association for Relationship Research (IARR) Ad Hoc Committee to Deal with Misconduct, Dominika Ochnik is at the forefront of promoting ethical practices. She is also a board member of the Polish Association for Psychology of Close Relationships.
